A 47-year old man who introduced himself as agent of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) was arrested for violation of Commission on Elections (Comelec) gun ban inside a convenience store in Mandaluyong City yesterday morning.

Supt. Cresenciano Landicho, Mandaluyong City Police Office Chief for Operations, identified the arrested suspect as Eradly Barroyo, married and presently residing at 364 A. Bonifacio St., Bgy. Hagdang Bato, Libis.

Police recovered a caliber .45 pistol, one magazine with two live ammunitions and a identification card of CIDG.

Reports showed the suspect was arrested around 11:30 a.m. while inside a 7-Eleven convenience store along A. Bonifacio St. Bgy. Hagdang Bato, Libis.

According to PO2 Thamhar Saupi, operatives of  Station Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group (SAID-SOTG), their group were conducting stake-out operations against illegal drugs when they spotted the suspect inside the said store.

Police noticed that something was tucked in the  waist of the suspect and when they frisked him they discovered a .45 caliber gun.

When arrested by policemen, Barroyo introduced himself as an informant of CIDG.

While suspect presented a licensed firearm and a permit to carry for his gun, however, he failed to produce any documents for exemption for carrying firearm which is a violation of Sec. 32 of the Omnibus Election Code (RA 7165).
