Latest News Philippines: Petrasanta, 2 others new police generals – Journal.com.ph:
PHILIPPINE National Police Firearms and Explosives Office Director Raul D. Petrasanta yesterday took his oath as a police chief superintendent before PNP chief Director General Nicanor A. Bartolome.
A member of PMA Class 1984, Petrasanta was joined by two other newly-promoted chief superintendents, Percival G. Barba of PMA Class 1982 and Sonny T. Cunanan of PNP Academy Class 1983, in taking his oath before Gen. Bartolome. The three became the latest one-star generals in the 143,000-strong police force.
Petrasanta, one of the few senior police officers who served with the Presidential Security Group tasked to secure the late democracy icon, President Corazon C. Aquino and her family during her tenure, is an expert shooter who has undergone local and foreign schooling including training with the Singapore Police Force and the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Shortly after he assumed his post as PNP-FEO director last January, Petrasanta vowed a much better service for their clientele apart from generating additional revenues for the police force that can be used in its modernization program.
He also affirmed his commitment to fully support the continuing organizational development program in the PNP-FEO being supervised by the PNP Civil Security Group now headed by Chief Supt. Gil C. Meneses of PMA Class 1980.
A known ‘manager, leader and a public servant,’ Petrasanta said he strongly believes in pursuing innovative moves in any organization in order to develop it. As head of the PNP-FEO, the newly-promoted police general has initiated a five-point support agenda in support of Bartolome’s 10-point action program.
They include strengthening the organization, increasing the productivity of its officers and men, enhancing security in the unit, developing progress-oriented policies and programs and more importantly, generating more revenues.
Petrasanta, a native of Calasiao, Pangasinan, was the PNP-FEO deputy director since August 20, 2010 until he was designated as head of the unit last January 27 vice Chief Supt. Napoleon R. Estilles, a member of PMA Class 1981 who is now the Police Regional Office 9 director.
Petrasanta, who got his Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the Manuel L. Quezon University in 1996, is a known advocate for change since his early days in the military as a young lieutenant until he rose to head small and big police stations.
