Latest News Philippines: 6 PNP officials get new key posts – Journal.com.ph:
AT least six senior Philippine National Police officials have been named to new key posts.
The new appointees are Director Catalino S. Cuy, the erstwhile head of the elite PNP Special Action Force, who has been named as new director of the PNP Directorate for Human Resources and Doctrines Development.
Cuy, a member of Philippine Military Academy Class 1981, will be replaced by his mistah (classmate) Chief Superintendent Cipriano E. Querol Jr., the erstwhile Police Regional Office 6 director in Western Visayas who has been replaced by Chief Supt. Agrimero A. Cruz Jr. of PMA Class 1982.
Cruz, a former PNP spokesman was replaced as director of the Police-Community Relations Group by Chief Supt. Bernardo C. Florece Jr. , a member of PMA Class 1983 who used to be the Secretary to the Directorial Staff of the PNP.
Florece will be replaced as PNP-CDS by Senior Supt. Isagani R. Nerez Jr., a member of PMA Class 1984 who used to be the head of the PNP Anti-Kidnapping Group. Nerez’ deputy, Senior Supt. Renato a. Gumban of PMA Class 1985, has been named officer-in-charge of the PNP-AKG. However, sources said that apart from Gumban, another member of PMA Class 1985, Senior Supt. Manuel R. Gaerlan is also being considered to be the new chief of the premier police’s anti-kidnapping unit.
PNP chief Director General Nicanor A. Bartolome earlier said that there would be a reorganization of some key offices of the PNP in line with his program to put the right man in the right job.
He said they will include at least 10 officers belonging to the PNP directorial staff, regional offices, national support units and some special staff.
These offices have the rank of Director down to Senior Superintendent.
He said the reshuffle is needed due to the availability of the position and the need to promote some officials who have been occupying the same position for almost two years.
Highly-reliable Journal Group sources said the PNP leadership is already consulting with President Benigno Aquino on the list of contenders for the new PNP Directors for Investigation and Detective Management and Plans.
Another PMA Class 1981 member, Chief Supt. Francisco Don C. Montenegro, who has been the director of the PNP Maritime Group for more than three years now, is reportedly being considered as the next PNP-DIDM director.
A major PNP reshuffle is expected with the retirement of Gen. Bartolome’s no. 2 man, PNP deputy chief for administration, Deputy Director General Arturo G. Cacdac Jr., the youngest member of PMA Class 1978 who will retire this coming October 11.
Sources said Cacdac’s departure will trigger the designation as the new PNP The Chief Directorial Staff of National Capital Region Police Office chief, Director Alan LM Purisima of PMA Class 1981. Such move will mean there will be a new NCRPO director.
