Latest News Philippines: Batangas gambling lords assemble, ready to operate – Journal.com.ph:
KICKOFF meeting of various gambling lords was held two days after newly installed Batangas Police Provincial Director assumed post.
A certain Jong V. who introduced himself as allegedly bagman of newly installed Batangas Police Provincial director Sr. Supt. Omega Jireh Deocares Fidel, presided the meeting last July 14, 2013 in RSM Restaurant in Calamba City, Laguna.
A follow up meeting was also held yesterday morning in Jollibee Lipa City branch.
Sources told People’s Tonight that jueteng lords, small-town lottery, perya and illegal video games operators based in Batangas were forced to attend the meeting.
Jong V. convened the gambling operators and said they could not operate without his “blessing.” “Kasi kaya raw i-full blast ni Jong ang illegal gambling operations kahit may order pa sina (DILG) Sec. Mar Roxas at (PNP chief) Gen. Alan Purisima,” the source added.
As enumerated by the source, biggest perya operator code-named Yolly; STL bookies operators Virtucio, Ineo, Indong, Kapitan Nelson, Fress, Minda, Neneng, Chiudian, Ka Pepeng and Togs; jueteng lords Dama, Cancio, Dexter, Angel, Ed Villanueva, Obet Malabanan, Jun Ocampo, Ka Teryo; video games operators Cely and Teddy attended the series of meeting.
These gambling lords in Batangas are known to conduct their illegal businesses in towns of San Jose, San Juan, Bauan, San Pascual, Nasugbu, Calaca, Talisay, Tanauan, Bgy. Ulango, Pantay na Bata at Pantay na Matanda, Ambulong, Bagbag and Luyos.
According to the gathered information, first order of business is how to “silence” the media not to write about illegal gambling in the province.
Jong V. is a police officer based in Batangas but is said to operate video karera in Calamba, Biñan, San Pedro and Sta. Rosa, Laguna, the source added.
It was not clear however if Fidel, a former Batangas City chief of police, permits the meeting that was organized by Jong V.
Fidel replaced Sr. Supt. Rosauro Acio last July 12, 2013 as part of PNP revamp after the midterm elections.
