Latest News Philippines: CamSur politics ‘turning violent’ –

TIGAON, Camarines Sur — Mayor Arnulfo Bryan Fuentebella recently sought the help of police agencies, the CIDG, NBI and the police regional office in Camp Simeon Ola and offered a Php30,000 reward money for any information that could lead to the arrest of the suspect in the attempted killing of Bgy. Captain Arquimedes Mabana.

Fuentebella, son of CamSur 4th district Rep. Arnulfo “Noli” Fuentebella, told People’s Journal on Tuesday that “we cannot allow violence to dominate local politics. I have sought the help of police authorities to get into the bottom of this incident, which had alarmed the peaceful residents of this town.”

He said the recent killing of Lupi town Mayor Raul Matamorosa last Oct. 27 was politically motivated.

Fuentebella said Matamorosa was among the leaders of CamSur 1st district Rep. Rolando Andaya Jr.   Fuentebella said that in the past months, a barangay official in Libmanan, a known leader of Arroyo, and a policeman were also shot.

Mabana’s shooting last Sunday was reportedly perpetrated by riding-in-tandem suspects.

Mabana fled to the ricefields but the suspects chased him and fired at him three more times, hitting him in the left armpit.
