CABANATUAN City — A suspected leader of a gun-for-hire group in Nueva Ecija with six arrest warrants fell into police hands during a sting operation launched in Tarlac last Tuesday.

Senior Supt. Crizaldo O. Nieves, provincial police director, identified the suspect as Danilo Galang, alias Danny, 53, of Bgy. San Francisco, San Antonio, Nueva Ecija.

Galang was collared by joint operatives of the Nueva Ecija Provincial Public Safety Company and the Concepcion, Tarlac police in his hideout in Bgy. Sta. Rita, Concepcion, at around 2:45 p.m. Tuesday.

His arrest was carried out on the strength of six arrest warrants issued by various courts in Nueva Ecija, Manila and Mandaluyong for various criminal offenses such as kidnapping with ransom, murder, homicide, less serious physical injuries, and reckless imprudence resulting in damage to property.

Police tagged him as the leader of a crime group said to be involved in gun-for-hire operations, kidnapping and robbery-holdups in Nueva Ecija, Pangasinan, and adjacent provinces.

Supt. Ricardo E. Villanueva, PPSC commander, said a manhunt for the suspect was launched after he was found to be in the target list for neutralization by the San Antonio and the Nueva Ecija police in January 2012.

Villanueva said the group, which allegedly has 11 identified members, was also suspected to be involved in other criminal activities such as the shooting of Erick Esguerra on Sept. 13, 2010 in Bgy. Lawang Cupang, Jaen, of SPO1 Elpidio Sicat, in Bgy. Sta. Cruz on Oct. 1, 2010, and that of Irineo and Maribeth Bartolome in Bgy. Calabasa, in Jaen, Nueva Ecija on Jan. 7, 2011.
