Latest News Philippines: PNP, NBI join hands to solve Davantes slay case –

ACTING on President Benigno Aquino’s order, the Philippine National Police and the National Bureau of Investigation have joined hands in investigating the murder of Kristelle “Kae” Davantes, the De La Salle University graduate and senior account manager of advertising agency McCann Worldgroup Philippines, Inc. whose body was found dumped under a bridge in Silang, Cavite hours after she was abducted somewhere in Bonifacio Global City in Taguig Friday night.

National Capital Region Police Office director Chief Supt. Marcelo P. Garbo Jr. said he has ordered the Taguig, Makati and Las Piñas City police to join the investigation. Apart from the NBI, the Police Regional Office 4-A under Chief Supt. Jesus Gatchalian and the PNP Highway Patrol Group headed by Chief Supt. Arrazad Subong are also involved in the investigation.

HPG agents have been ordered to hold the driver of a Toyota Altis being driven by Davantes before she was killed. The car (plate no. PIM-966) owned by the victim’s relative remained missing as of press time. The killer or killers also stole the victim’s handbag containing her wallet, iPhone and Blackberry.

As of yesterday, investigators are still ooking into all probable motives and personalities who might have had a hand in the case of Davantes who turned up dead hours after she disappeared in Global City, said Garbo.

Relatives, friends and colleagues of the 25-year-old woman who reportedly planned to marry in May next year have already given their sworn statements to investigators who are trying hard to solve the puzzle on how her body ended up under a bridge in Silang, Cavite.

Police investigators since last Monday have started collecting and reviewing footage from CCTV cameras in Global City as well as the Southern Luzon Expressway where the suspect or suspects who took Davantes could have passed on their way to Silang. Records of the victim’s last communications are also being analysed.

Davantes’  interment is scheduled on September 15 (Sunday), 2 p.m. at the Manila Memorial Park in Parañaque City.                                                       Alfred Dalizon
