Latest News Philippines: Quirino’s top drug dealer jailed – Journal.com.ph:
QUIRINO province’s most wanted drug trafficker is finally in jail after he was arrested by agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in a buy-bust operation last Tuesday, PDEA chair Undersecretary Arturo G. Cacdac Jr. said yesterday.
John Ryan Montemayor, 29, of Bgy. Andres Bonifacio, Diffun municipality, who is included in the PDEA and Philippine National Police’s ‘order of battle’ of drug traffickers in Cagayan Valley, is now facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, said the PDEA chair.
Cacdac said the suspect was arrested at 2 p.m. Tuesday by members of the PDEA Regional Office 2 under Director Juvenal Azurin and a team of officers from the Diffun Municipal Police Station shortly after he sold two plastic sachets of shabu to an undercover agent in General Antonio Luna St. in Purok 2, Bgy. Andres Bonifacio.
The suspect also yielded two pieces of marked P1,000 bills paid to him by the poseur.
“We are steadily chipping away drug personalities who are included in the PDEA’s order of battle nationwide. It bodes well to the equation that the higher the level of the arrested target, the bigger its impact on the illegal drug trade,” Cacdac said.
In La Union, local PDEA agents arrested Kenneth Allen Buccat, a 24-year-old resident of Bgy. Ilocanos Norte in San Fernando City, after he sold shabu to a poseur last Tuesday.
Cacdac said Buccat, a suspected member of the Maso Drug Group operating in the Ilocos-Pangasinan region, is considered as the 6th top drug personality in La Union.
Combined agents of the PDEA Regional Office 1 headed by Director Adrian Alvariño, the San Fernando City Police Station and the La Union Provincial Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group seized two sachets of shabu, several drug paraphernalia and the buy-bust money from the suspect.
