Latest News Philippines: Tarlac City hosts CLRAA 2013 – Journal.com.ph:
TARLAC City — More than 300 delegates from seven provinces and 11 cities are now in the city for this year’s Central Luzon Regional Athletic Association (CLRAA) sports competition hosted by the city government headed by Mayor Ace Manalang.
The CLRAA meet started last Sunday through a parade of delegates and guests and is expected to end on Saturday hoping to be a successful activity and wonderful experience to every participant.
During the Mayor’s Night held at the Ninoy Aquino Plaza last Monday, the guest speaker, Senator Bong Revilla, said he admired Manalang in pursuing the event although there was no budget approved.
“Kung sa akin po idol ang tawag ng mga fans ko, pero dito po sa Tarlac City si Ace Manalang ang idol ko dahil itinuloy niya ang event na ito kahit walang budget,” Revilla said.
Before he left, he donated Php100,000 to be given to the winners of CLRAA.
Manalang said that he is very proud to be a lone host in this activity. In 2009, the city is only a co-host of the province during the CLRAA meet that year.
Dr. Lilia Santiago, the Tarlac City Schools Division superintendent, said that all billeting quarters of the delegates have complete facility and safeguarded. “We are proud that the city is a peaceful place and we hope everything will be alright until the last day of CLRAA,” she said.
“Bawat isang delegation, nagbigay po siya ng isang baboy although may kanya-kanya silang food allowance,” she added.
