INCUMBENT Governor Victor Areno Yap has no  reason to be complacent since  Vice Governor Pearl Angeli Erquiza and Dr. Isa Cojuangco–Suntay both surprisingly filed their certificates of candidacy before the deadline last Friday.

A two-termer young governor who is running under the province’s most powerful party, the Nationalist People’s Coalition founded by business tycoon and former ambassador Eduardo “Danding” Cojuangco, Yap is set to beat two powerful ladies, who made a name in their respective fields.

VG Pearl started young as a politician from Sangguniang Kabataan all the way to Sangguniang Panlalawigan until a destiny favored her to be a first lady vice governor of the province in 2010 first automated national elections. 

She is running now under the banner of Lakas-CMD Party of Senator Bong Revilla and former President Fidel V. Ramos.  She is also the provincial chairperson of the party who has given a privilege to nominate any candidate in the province who will affiliate to the party.

Doc Isa, cousin of President Benigno Aquino and a niece of Danding is an awarded dermatologist and presently advocating planting of organic vegetables and medicinal plants.

Isa is currently working at St. Luke’s Hospital as a consultant.  She is also the co-founder of Tarlac Heritage Foundation that introduced Belenismo sa Tarlac who made the province very popular here and abroad.                                 George Hubierna
