Latest News Philippines: James Yap mum about ex-wife Kris and current Italian gf – Journal.com.ph:

JAMES Yap is elated that the courts denied the request of his ex-wife Kris Aquino to prevent him from coming near their son Bimby. This means he’ll now have visitation rights again to spend time with the boy, but he’s still not allowed to get near Kris.

James no longer wants to say anything about Kris. “Basta masaya akong makakasama ko na uli ang anak ko.” He also doesn’t want to talk about his rumored new girlfriend, said to be an Italian, and just wants to keep mum about his current lovelife.

HAPPY LIFE MAKES IT HARD FOR JUDY ANN TO DO DRAMA AGAIN

JUDY Ann Santos glows with a palpable positive aura when she was presented in a solo presscon for her comeback soap, “Huwag Ka Nang Mawawala.” “Nahihirapan nga ako umiyak ngayon sa dramatic scenes ko,” she says. “Nanibago ako kasi two years din akong di nag-soap. At nahirapan akong magdrama kasi masaya ang buhay ko ngayon. Di gaya ng dati, isang pitik lang, tumutulo na luha ko. Iniisip ko nga, ano bang ibig sabihin nito? Malungkot ba ako noong araw at mas masaya talaga ako ngayon? Kaya ‘yung mga nagsasabing nagpapa-annul kami ni Ryan (Agoncillo), ewan ko kunsaan nila kinukuha ang mga balitang ‘yan na malayo sa katotohanan.”

ABS-CBN gave her a tribute as the Queen of Pinoy Soap Opera by showing footage of her past soaps with them, from “Mara Clara” and “Esperanza” to “Krystala,” “Sa Piling Mo,” “Isabella,”  “Habang May Buhay,” etc. What did she realize after watching herself in the video clips? “Na mukha pala talaga akong siopao at hindi dapat sumama ang loob ko sa mga nagsusulat ng ganun dahil mukha talaga kong siopao na bagong gising.”

Don’t you just love Juday’s self-deprecating kind of humor? Only someone who’s so secure of herself can do that: not take herself seriously. No wonder press people just love her as she really has an endearing personality. We’re sure her fans can’t wait to see her in her new soap where she plays Anessa, a poor girl who’s victimized by an illegal recruiter. She then falls in love with Eros (Sam Milby), the son of a rich military man (Tirso Cruz III), without knowing he’s only out to get their land, the salt farm she and her mom (Susan Africa) own. Later on, Sam dumps her for KC Concepcion, who plays villain to Juday here. Sam even steals their baby away from Juday, who becomes a battered wife. NBI agent John Estrada then teaches her martial arts (ala-J Lo in “Enough”) so she can fight back. Mylene Dizon, John’s wife, then gets jealous and confronts Juday.

“I have slapping scenes galore with KC and Mylene,” says Juday. “Later, hindi lang sampalan kundi bugbugan talaga. Lahat ng mga misis, matututo rito kung paano ipagtatanggol ang sarili nila’t   mga karapatan nila.”

She’s working with Sam and KC for the first time. How’s it? “Dahil sa kanila, nahasa nang bonggang-bongga ang English ko rito. Pero bilib ako kay Sam kasi talagang pinaninindigan niya ang pagta-Tagalog. Kahit sinasabihan namin na Inglisin mo na lang kung nahihirapan ka, talagang pinipilit niya’t nagpupursigi siya to deliver his lines in Tagalog. Si KC naman, perfect siya for the role. Ako nagsabi sa kanya, kontrabida ka sa’kin dito. And she said, kaya ko ba? Sabi ko, it’s time for her to show na aktres siya, versatile siya. Ipapakita naman ditong may pinanggagalingan yung role niya. Nakatulong yung pagiging best friend namin ng nanay niya (Sharon Cuneta) dahil she opens up to me sa hesitations niya about the role. But I assured her it’s really time na ipakita naman ang different side ng pagiging aktres niya.”

“Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala,” helmed by Jerry Sineneng, Malu Sevilla and Tots Mariscal, starts airing on June 17 to replace “Ina Kapatid Anak.”

LUKE WANTS TO USE WHAT HE LEARNED FROM U.S. ACTING SCHOOL

LUKE Jickain is better known as a ramp model. He has tried acting before in ABS-CBN soaps like “Marina,”  “Maria la del Barrio” and “Imortal.” “But on and off ako noon kasi tinatapos ko pa ang pag-aaral ko,” he says. “After I graduated from my marketing course in San Beda, which was my gift to my parents, I went to New York to study acting in Manhattan. Kasi acting naman talaga ang gusto ko, but I don’t want to get into it na wala akong preparation. Suwerte naman, kinuha ako ng TV5 to be part of ‘Boracay Bodies’ and now, sinama naman ako in their new mini-series, ‘Misibis Bay’, where I play the lifeguard and manager of the resort.”

We tell him he’s a late bloomer since he’s already 28. “I know. But in showbiz, it’s also a matter of good timing. Also, I’m willing to do villain and character roles naman so I can use what I learned from acting school.”

He’s challenged by his role in “Misibis Bay” as he’ll be the lover of Vivian Velez, the scheming sister of Christopher de Leon who owns the resort. “I’ll admit I’m intimidated kasi she’s a good actress at matagal na siya sa industry. Nagkasama kami noon sa ‘Imortal’ but we never had a scene together. I really admire kasi, tingnan mo naman, hanggang ngayon Body Beautiful pa rin. Hot pa rin. It’s really an honor to be working with her.”

Luke is the brother of Martin Jickain, the ex-hubby of Aiko Melendez. “One year older lang siya sa’kin. He’s now working as the chef of a place called Station Juan Cafe in Boracay. When I was there for ‘Boracay Bodies’, he treated us to free dinner. He and Aiko are now good friends. Malaki na yung daughter nila.”

SANDY TELLS CHRISTOPHER TO STAY OUT OF POLITICS

SANDY Andolong played Dingdong Dantes’ mom in “Pahiram ng Sandali.” She’s now back with GMA7 as Donya Carmela, the grandmother looking for her long lost granddaughter in “Anna Karenina” who could be any of the three teen stars in the show: Barbie Forteza, Krystal Reyes or Joyce Ching. Three days before the show’s presscon, we saw Sandy with hubby Christopher de Leon at the set of TV5’s “Misibis Bay” in Legazpi City. She calls Boyet “My Ahava,” a Jewish which means a Biblical place where you can get nourishing living waters. As we all know, Sandy once got sick in her kidneys and Boyet patiently took good care of her until she recovered fully. Sandy admit she underwent stem cell therapy and she now looks younger and feels stronger.

“I thank God for making me experience that as I realized a lot of good things and for healing me,” she says. “Okay na ako but I remain very careful. May cut off pa rin ako sa taping para maka-rest din naman ako nang maayos.”

She has a very positive attitude in life and sees her husband’s losing in the election as God’s way of telling him that politics is not for him. “Kung ako lang talaga, ayoko siyang magpulitika, pero dahil gusto niya, sinuportahan ko siya. But siya rin, meron siyang mga bagay at kalakarang hindi matanggap about it. So I guess, ngayon, titigilan na niya and he’s back to acting.”

How’s it acting with GMA7’s Tween stars? “Marami kaming eksena together nina Barbie, Krystal and Joyce kasi, silang tatlo, titira sa bahay namin ni Juan Rodrigo while we’re trying to discover kung sino sa kanila ang tunay na ‘Anna Karenina’. Okay naman sila, professional lahat, they love their work at magagaling din umarte so magaan ang trabaho naming lahat with our director, my kumareng Gina Alajar.”

Their son Gabriel has joined showbiz as part of GMA7’s teen show, “Teen Gen.” Their daughter, Mariel, a finalist in the recent Bb. Pilipinas pageant, will also join showbiz. “She’s now managed by Boy Abunda. Sabi namin sa mga anak namin, seryosohin nila ang trabaho nila. Kami naman ng dad nila will always be here to support them.”

“Anna Karenina” starts airing tomorrow after “24 Oras,” replacing “Indio.”

ALL ABOUT SNAKES

DO YOU know that snakes are born swimmers? They use the water’s surface tension to glide and can even lift 1/4 to 1/3 of their body length off of the water’s surface. This is shown in “Born Impact” this Sunday morning. Some snakes are better adapted to live in water than on land. Taal volcano, a popular tourist destination keeps a number of unique water snakes in its lake. Doc Ferds encounters the real sea snake in the ocean. He must be cautious since true sea snakes are four times more venomous than a king cobra.

In the Philippines , snakes are usually feared and killed because of the stigma of being a “killer” regardless of whether they are venomous or non-venomous. But in Cambodia , Doc Nielsen finds a community of people with a peculiar relationship with water snakes. In a lake known for having the world’s largest population of freshwater snakes, snakes have become a natural part of people’s lives. Catch “Born Impact” this Sunday, 9:30a.m., after AHA on GMA7.
