Latest News Philippines: Regine wants to have new baby –

REGINE Velasquez’s 25th anniversary concert, “Silver,” this Friday night at SM MOA Arena promises to be the music event of the year with spectacular production values and with Ogie Alcasid, Janno Gibbs and Lani Misalucha as guests.

For her next 25 years in showbiz, our wish for Regine is to be able to do a serious drama film that will give her a best actress award just like other singers-actresses before her: Nora Aunor, Sharon Cuneta and Zsa Zsa Padilla.

“Matagal na ako gusto igawa ng Viva ng ganyan pero takot ako, e,” she says. “I’m more comfortable with comedy.”

Maybe she should guest in Mel Tiangco’s newly revived “Magpakailanman” in a dramatic story. “They asked me na, but what they want to do is yung love story namin ni Ogie. Ayoko nga, parang weird naman. Sana ibang material na lang.”

Her son Nate turned one year old and she and hubby Ogie Alcasid hosted a Boy Pickup-themed children’s party for him at the clubhouse of Ayala Hillside where they live. They made it private and didn’t allow the media to cover it. Will Nate have a participation in her silver anniversary concert at the MOA Arena this Friday, November 16?

“No, but he’ll be there and I’ll dedicate a segment to him. I’m sure he’ll appreciate it kasi at one year old, he knows how to hum. He hums with me. And when I sing, he looks at me. Kakatuwa. My next album will have songs dedicated to him.”

What’s Ogie’s participation in the preparation for her show? “Wala, basta guest siya. Pinapabayaan niya lang ako. Kaya ko naman daw. Sabi niya, parang relaxed na relaxed lang ako. Siyempre, bakit naman kailangang tensyunin ko sarili ko? Basta we’ll give the audience a good show. After the concert, magbabakasyon kami sa Amanpulo. Treat ni Ogie sa akin.”

So that’s where they’ll manufacture their next baby? “Puwede. Kasi one year old na si Nate and my doctor said puwede pa talaga kong magbuntis as I took good care of my health naman. I never smoke nor drink, kaya even if I had caesarean section, I was able to recover fast.”

Sponsors of “Silver” include Belo, Bench, Smart, McDo, Pacific Blue, Victoria Court with GMA7 as co-producer.

WHAT can Aljur Abrenica say about his ladylove Kylie Padilla’s decision to back out from “Hiram na Sandali” since she finds her role in the love triangle drama with Lorna Tolentino and Dingdong Dantes “far too adult” for her?

“Let’s just respect her decision,” he says. “May conflict daw kasi sa kanyang Muslim faith ang role.”

But they’re still together in “Kuratong Baleleng”, the movie Kylie’s dad Robin Padilla is directing. Aljur is in two other movies, the horror flick “Basement” and the rom-com filmfest entry “Sosy Problems” where he stars with Heart Evangelista and Solenn Heussaff. Aljur also wants to remind the avid viewers of his show with Kris Bernal that “Coffee Prince” is on an earlier time slot as it’s now shown right after “Aso ni San Roque.”

MARTIN Nievera has become surrogate dad to “X Factor” winner KZ Tandingan and finalists Jeric Medina, Kedebon Colim, Gabriel Maturan and Allen Sta. Maria who are living in his house at Ayala Alabang. At the launch of the compilation album of “X Factor” winners and finalists, Kedebon told us that Martin has practically adopted them.

“He gives us food and pocket money and even allows us to use the services of his driver, his car, his maids,” he says. “Napakabait niya. We all call him Daddy. Even when he’s in the States, pinatitira pa rin niya kami sa bahay niya.”

Martin says it’s his way of helping them. “Wala kasi silang titirhan here in Manila. And I’m happy to see them having gigs and careers of their own. Ang usapan namin, they can stay with me until December. They’re really a blessing to me as it’s nice to feel that I’m appreciated. They’re all so grateful, obviously brought up well by their own parents. I was an absentee father to my own kids.”

He’s celebrating his 30th year in showbiz with a special anniversary album, “Martin Nievera 3D: Tatlong Dekada”, under PolyEast Records that has been his home since he did “Chasing Time” in 2002.

“I’ve been doing nothing but revivals lately so this time, it’s an album of original songs including the songs I did for teleseryes like ‘Pangako’ from ‘Walang Hanggan’, ‘Times of Your Life’ from ‘Lorenzo’s Time’ and ‘After All’ from ‘A Beautiful Affair,’ ” he says.

‘The first single is ‘Ipadarama’ by Kiko Salazar, now being heard on radio. Other composers who contributed songs are Ogie Alcasid, Marvin Querido, Joey Benin, Jungee Marcelo and Arnie Mendaros. One song, ‘Far Away’ is from Chris Lopez, a nephew of Gabby Lopez. Another song is from cousin Mark Feist na ire-record sana ni Enrique Iglesias but he gave it to me, ‘Take Off’, this is a dance tune.

Most people who hear it ask: who’s that? Because it’s so not me, totally different from anything I’ve done before. Mapapasayaw ka talaga. All in all, there are 15 new songs in the album plus a DVD with the music videos of 15 more songs. So you get a total of 30 songs.”

He just came home from a series of shows in the States for Bantay Bata. At the Hollywood Bowl in Las Vegas, he got to perform with Hollywood-based celebs with Pinoy blood: Lou Diamond Phillips, Apl de Ap, Nicole Scherzinger and Vanessa Hudgens. “First time for Pinoys to singer and 14,000 people came to watch us. The Americans were asking: where did all these people come from?”

He’s hoping his late night talk show will finally push through next year. “Kaya lang, management and I have different concepts and “X Factor” Season 2 will also come up, so I don’t know.”

KEDEBON Colim might not be the champ in “X Factor Philippines” but he’s the one who gets an acting assignment ahead of winner KZ Tandingan. Obviously, ABS-CBN saw his potential as a comedian so he’ll be joining the cast of the youth-oriented show, “Luv U,” to be paired with Kiray Celis.

“I’m excited, artista na ako,” says the natural funnyman from Cebu.

The eldest of two kids of jobless parents, Kedebon sings “Mahal Kita Kasi” in the X Factor All-Star Album that has 13 songs already sang by the Final 12 during the elimination rounds. Winner KZ sings ‘Killing Me Softly’, 2nd placer Gabriel sings ‘It Will Rain’ and third placer Daddy’s Home sings ‘All At Once’. Completing the tracklist are ‘Got To Be Real’ by A.K.A. Jam; ‘Love The Way You Lie’ by Allen Sta. Maria; ‘Kung Wala Ka Na’ by Jerriane Templo; ‘Can’t Help Falling In Love’ by Jeric Medina; ‘Ang Pag-ibig Kong Ito’ by Joan Da; ‘Nanghihinayang’ by Mark Mabasa; ‘Balatkayo’ by Modesto Taran; ‘Stay’ by Take Off; and the bonus track ‘Star Ng Pasko’ perfomed by the Final 12.

It’s now the no. 1 record in iTunes Philippines and available in record stores at P250. It can be downloaded on and on iTunes.
