Latest News Philippines: Dolphy’s women speak! – Journal.com.ph:
“COMEDY King Dolphy would have laughed at the thought that he may not be eligible for the coveted National Artist award.” Thus yesterday stated Lotis Key, former actress and ex-girlfriend of the country’s top comedian as she mourned his demise last Tuesday.
The controversial citation was also farthest from Dolphy’s live-in partner Zsa-Zsa Padilla mind. As the top comedian’s body was being prepared for his wake, she kept assuring him, between tears, that he was handsome as ever.
Key, in a media statement, said Dolphy has possessed the biggest award his country has to offer. “One that no politician, businessman, or preacher has yet been able to win. The unconditional love of the Filipino people,” she stressed.
The former actress described Dolphy as an intelligent, gracious and unique man. She added that there will never be another movie or stage artist like Dolphy.
“That is sad, because now of all times, we need the comforting release into laughter and silliness that he instinctively provided for us. However, the times that shaped him have passed, and will not come again. My sincere condolences to his loved ones, and I pray the peace that surpasses all understanding, be with them during this wrenching time of loss,” Key said.
Meanwhile, Ruel Quizon, a grandson of Dolphy, in a TV interview, said Zsa Zsa’s words of goodbye to the Comedy King were, “Love, ang pogi pogi mo.” This was when the funeral parlor was preparing the ace comedian’s body for viewing.
Aside from Key and Padilla, Dolphy had serious relationships with four other women. He sired 18 children from his six partners.
Dolphy’s ex-girlfriends include Engracia Dominguez with whom he has six children, Gloria Smith with whom he has four kids, Baby Smith — popularly known by her screen name Pamela Ponti — with whom he has four children including Eric and Epi, Evangeline Tugalao with whom he has one kid, Alma Moreno who bore him Vandolph and Zsa Zsa Padilla with whom he has two daughter, Nicole and singer Zia.
Director Bibeth Orteza, who immortalized the comedy king’s life and loves in Dolphy: Hindi Ko Ito Narating Mag-Isa,” has been vocal in saying that the top comedian should have been declared a National Artist several years ago. Her reason: he has devoted his life to the arts and has forged new directions for countless generations of Pinoy artists. Tonight wire monitoring
